Flower time lapse experiment

Another short time lapse experiment. I thought I would capture this Christmas Cactus flower opening, thinking that it would open during the daylight hours. Apparently they begin to open in the night time, who knew? The first half of this was shot Sunday afternoon from about1:00 to 6:30 and then today from 6:30 am until the battery died around 4:00 (I think). I should have shot it with a greater depth of field but I have f1.4 madness - a conditioned caused when you have an f/1.4 lens and you just want to shoot everything at f/1.4 -- live and learn.  I will likely try this again as I am really not all that displeased with this experiment.  I need to control the lighting better and get better battery life.   . . . of course the dramatic music makes everything look better. . .

a story for tomorrow

Another amazing and inspirational video that I had absolutely nothing to do with, but thought it was worth sharing. Nicely shot and a wonderful narration. I recommend that you watch this full screen - it is just a wonderful piece.

Coast Guard Station at Castle Hill - Click image to view panorama
Last week we visited Newport and drove around Ocean Drive and visited Castle Hill light and the coast guard station.  Here are a few panoramas. For some reason all of these came out very blue.

Prayer Shawls at St. Pauls - Click image for larger view, panorama link below
Carol runs a prayer shawl group as a chaplain at the Scandinavian Home. Each year they are brought to St. Paul's and displayed and handed out those those in need.  This is a link to a panorama of St. Paul's church in Cranston, RI. The panorama was shot using an HDR technique.
