Steppingstone Falls Revisited

Steppingstone Falls - Click on image to view panorama
I revisited the Steppingstone Falls on the day of the summer solstice. Of course the area is now in full leaf, the water is flowing well and the ferns are lush and all very beautiful. This little known spot is a great place to hike and get lost in your thoughts. I had a great time shooting pictures and taking video.

My friend Rob and I made a camera slider for video work the other day. This is the first test footage of flowers in my front yard taken with a Nikon D300s.

Providence Sunset Time Lapse

Providence Sunset from Edward Huff on Vimeo.

Just for fun I ran over to the lot on the parkway that overlooks Providence, here in East Providence, and shot the sunset this evening. The sunset was shot at one frame every 10 seconds and the rest at one frame every 3 seconds. Shot with my Nikon D300s

Home, 1998

17 Peckham Street, Rehoboth, MA • Click image to view panorama
This is one of my earliest surviving panoramas, and is of my house in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. Before we sold this house and went cruising I documented the entire house with this new VR technology that was all quite experimental at the time.  I used Apple's QuickTime VR Authoring Studio (I think that was the name) to assemble this image.  This was taken in early April of 1998 with a Kodak digital camera --  I cannot remember which model it was. It took some doing to get this image converted to post on the blog... how times have changed.  The quality certainly isn't very good but it brings back memories. I built this house in 1974 when I was 25 years old with the help of Carol and many friends, and my Dad, who came out from Illinois for the first couple of weeks of construction. We hammered every nail, shaped every stick of wood and painted and finished everything before we moved in during the fall 1975, The main house with the gambrel roof was the original structure.  In 1989 I added the glass sunroom and the garage. The skylights in the garage roof were over my studio (upstairs) and the workshop (downstairs)

All Saints Episcopal Church (click image to see panorama)
We attended a wonderful wedding in this magnificent church this past Sunday, Congrats Dana and Dan Danizig. And a special thanks to John and Anita for their hospitality -- and warm wishes to all the wonderful people we met and and the old friends we reunited with at the wedding. I will post more as I get them developed.

The Wine Library

On our trip to New Jersey we had to stop at the Wine Library in Springfield, NJ.  Their website www.winelibrary.com is a favorite and a great place to shop.  The store is phenomenal. I have been a big fan of Gary Vaynerchuck's podcasts for years ... check him out at The DailyGrape

Here is the store from the outside

Here is a view from the upstairs

And of course "the Vault"

Stepping Stone Falls

Stepping Stone Falls in West Greenwich, Rhode Island was completely unknown to me just a few weeks ago. Thanks Andrea for telling me about his beautiful place. This is the first of many that were shot and will be shot here. I stopped here after work and shot several panoramas.  This place has a beautiful spirit and I will return when I have more time and can relax and explore.

Things I Make at Work

A few have asked just what I do at work so here is a quick 1 minute smattering of some of the intros, bumpers, animations and such that I sprinkle in the video pieces I make.

Recent Video projects

I have been working on several video projects recently as a very small part of a major piece for my good friend Koji. The above clip puts a second sun in the sky.  This  was a difficult track as there is little reference to track  on the horizon.  I ended up hand tracking this clip which was a very tedious process. I did several short clips (3 - 6 seconds) taking still images and disassembling them in Photoshop and then adding 3D movement in After Effects. Here is an example. Koji's best know work is "Virtual JFK" a compelling documentary about what might have happened if JFK had lived. Rent it on Netflix.
